The cytoskeleton of a glial cell appears extremely thin in this image. Alongside neurons, these are the most important cells in the brain. The cytoskeleton was made visible using phalloidin, a toxin found in the green death cap mushroom. The thin green-colored threads are actin filaments. They stabilize the cell and also support its movement.
